World At War Dev Update: 22–28 September 2026

World At War isn't public yet. These posts follow its development week by week until it launches. Everything here is being built and tested in Roblox Studio, and numbers may change before release.

World At War started this week on an empty baseplate. Seven days later it has 21 vehicles, four maps and six game modes.

The first playable build

  • Two teams, Red and Blue, each with a walled base, spawns and a motor pool. Players are balanced automatically.
  • Three capture points, Alpha, Bravo and Charlie. Standing on a point moves it towards your team, and every point you hold adds to your score.
  • Rounds last 10 minutes, or end early when a team reaches 1,000 points.

Vehicles

Each pad's console opens a motor pool menu showing every vehicle's health, armour class, speed, seats and weapons, with a 3D picture in your team's colour. The roster includes the Jeep, Humvee, CCKW truck, BM-13, M1117, V-150, BTR-80A, Scorpion, T-34, Sherman, Patton, Leopard, Tiger II, Nashorn, M109 and the Maus, plus two helicopters (below).

  • Real shells. Rounds fly out of the barrel and drop under gravity. You still just point and click; the gun raises itself so the shell lands on your aim point.
  • Barrels aim up and down to the angle each shot needs, and roof machine guns swing round to face their target.
  • Weapon keys: F, B, T and G fire each gun, and 1–4 switch. Guns use magazines and reload when empty.
  • Passenger seats with a "Ride" prompt for teammates. While you're seated, the prompts on the seats next to you hide so they don't block your view, and so do your tools.
  • First-person view in every vehicle.
  • Tighter machine guns: spread is about a third of what it was, so bursts stay on target.

Building with crates

Vehicles carry supply crates that drivers can drop and players can carry. With the hammer you can build:

  • a machine gun nest with a working .50 cal that teammates can man;
  • a bunker with a firing slit, a rear door and a roof;
  • artillery and a Bofors anti-aircraft gun.

Structures break a piece at a time, and built pieces need support: blow out a staircase and the landing on top falls with it. Crates are explosive, so shoot one and it goes up, even while someone is carrying it.

Helicopters

The Huey and Chinook launch from rooftop helipads. E and Q climb and descend, and anti-aircraft rounds do extra damage to them.

Maps

  • Meadow, Dunes and Frostline now have rolling low-poly hills, coloured grass, dirt and rock (or sand, or snow) by how steep they are. Trees, rocks and walls sit properly on the slopes.
  • Inner City is a new map with 107 buildings of one to four storeys, side streets and alleys. Every building is destructible: walls break section by section, and storeys collapse when the floor below is blown out.
  • Weather: lightning storms and rain. Lightning only hurts players (25 damage and a short ragdoll on a direct hit).
  • Fires: shells and explosions set things alight, with tall columns of dark smoke that keep burning until the round ends.

Bases and the lobby

  • Bases are two storeys with a rooftop helipad deck, 4 armour pads and 5 light-vehicle pads, and lights on every floor.
  • The lobby has a clear view out of the window, a Top Soldiers board for the all-time top 10, an armoury counter and a Tiger II turning on a showroom plinth.

Ranks and the shop

Points from kills, destroyed vehicles, captures, wins and time played now save between visits. Ranks unlock at 700, 1,500 and 3,000 points, and stronger vehicles need a higher rank: Rank 1 starts with jeeps, trucks and the Scorpion, while the Tiger II and Maus wait at Rank 4. The Shop (M key) sells Premium Shells, Fast Reload, an automatic .50 cal, Premium Rockets and the Repair Tool. On foot you carry 240 machine-gun rounds and 6 rockets, and you can refill at a supply crate.

Three co-op modes

Zombie Survival. You get 2 minutes to build defences and bring out vehicles, then endless waves come from every edge of the map: 30 zombies in wave 1 and 10 more each wave after. They pathfind through the streets and smash through your defences. The last zombie of each wave drops a MAX AMMO box. If you go down, you're out until the wave is cleared.

Alien Invasion. Copper war machines arrive on Inner City after a 90-second prep, 3 ships plus 1 per player. Their heat ray wrecks buildings and sets them alight. Shoot them all down within 30 minutes to win.

Kaiju Attack. A giant monster walks into the city. Each step booms and flattens buildings, it blasts buildings with its atomic breath even when nobody's near, and it bites helicopters that get too close. Its head tracks its target, its tail sweeps anyone behind it, and below half health it gets angrier. You can't hide in your base and shoot it from there. Bring it down within 15 minutes to win.

In all three co-op modes everyone plays on one team, and there's a spectator camera for when you're down or want to watch.

Also new

  • A hitmarker with a tick sound on every hit, bigger and red on a kill.
  • A kill feed, a Tab scoreboard and an end-of-round screen with the top players.
  • Sound: engine pitch rises with speed, bigger explosions sound bigger, and rounds start with a 10-second countdown.
  • Badges: Enlisted, First Blood, Tank Buster, Victory and Top Brass.
  • A daily reward that grows from 100 to 400 points over 7 days.
  • Controller support, plus a Settings menu and a five-step tutorial.
  • Switch team now takes you to the lobby with the team picker already open.

In progress

The Armoury is being built: new guns (Assault Rifle, SMG, Shotgun, Sniper Rifle and Pistol), four grenade types and three kinds of body armour that block damage but slow you down.
